Parkside Avenue Bicycle Lane

Managing Agency: NYC Department of Transportation
Location:
Parkside Avenue (Park Circle to Ocean Avenue)
Project Description
: New bicycle lane on Parkside Ave.
Expected Start Date: Fall 2020

Project Details:

The NYC Department of Transportation announced a plan to install a new dedicated bicycle lane on Parkside Avenue at the September 23, 2020 Community Board 14 Transportation Committee meeting. The project will add a third protected bike lane bordering Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The archived CB14 committee meeting is available for viewing at this link. The full DOT Powerpoint presentation is available at this link.

The goals of the DOT project are to (1) improve pedestrian safety by shortening crossing distances and adding daylighting; (2)  extend a safe, comfortable bike route around Prospect Park and provide dedicated space for biking; and (3) maintain motor vehicle circulation and reduce off-peak speeding.
