Free NYC Summer Camps & Programs

Summer is here! New York City offers many excellent, free summer camps & programs for young people. Continue reading to find out about free day camps, sports programs, sleep-away camps, Summer Youth Police Academy & more.   

Free Summer Breakfast & Lunch program for NYC Students: The Free Summer Meals Program is available at hundreds of public schools, community pool centers, New York City Housing Authority complexes, and other locations around the city. No registration, documentation, or ID is required to receive a free breakfast or lunch meal for anyone 18 years old or younger. For more information, visit the School Food website. Free soccer clinic in Brooklyn (ages 4-6): The Federation of Italian-American Organizations is offering free soccer classes to children under the age of 6 every Sunday at 10 a.m. during June and July at Calvert Vaux Park at the intersection of Shore Parkway and Bay 46th St. For more information, contact Sara Gambino at 718-259-2828.

FREE College Now Summer Programs for High School Students: Summer is the perfect time to jump-start your education, your career, and even your leisure-time activities at The City University of New York.  CUNY’s colleges offer thousands of courses with schedules that accommodate your summertime plans. Jump-start your education or career this summer with CUNY Summer in the City. – Free sleep-away camp: The Fresh Air Fund sends low-income New York City children to sleep-away camps and to stay with host families in upstate New York free of charge. It is accepting applications for this summer now, and applications are available in English, Spanish, Bengali, Chinese, French and Korean. To learn more and apply, visit the website »

– Free Tennis Lessons for NYC Kids – CityParks Tennis promotes physical fitness while building self-confidence, and is designed to make tennis instruction freely available to kids in a fun, relaxed environment. Lessons for kids are offered at 38 citywide parks and meet twice weekly between July 5 – August 15. Opportunities include free beginner lessons, tournaments, leagues, excellence programs and special events. Free use if equipment is provided for those who do not have a tennis racquet.
