NYS Eviction Moratorium Ends January 15

HOPE 2022 Volunteers Needed

HOPE 2022 On Tuesday, January 25th, 2022, the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) will conduct its annual Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE) Survey, a point-in-time survey undertaken each winter that helps the City estimate the number of unsheltered New Yorkers living on the street on one of the coldest nights of the year. The results gathered through this survey provide the City with valuable information that helps determine how best to allocate resources in support of New Yorkers in need. Brooklyn Housing Resource Events

NHS Brooklyn is hosting two housing resource events in October 2020 for tenants and homeowners. A webinar on October 1 at 6 PM will focus on tenant’s rights, NYC Housing Connect and Homeless prevention services. NYC Residential Heat Regulations

Heat season runs from October 1st to May 31st. This year there are new regulations governing the temperatures at which building owners are required to provide tenants with heat.  During the day, from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m., landlords are required to keep a minimum temperature of 68 F when the outside temperature is 55 F or below.  At night, from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m., landlords are required to keep a minimum temperature of 62 F at all times.  Tenants without heat should file a complaint by calling 311.  More info is available here:

Home Improvement Grants Available

Neighborhood Housing Services of East Flatbush and the Affordable Housing Corporation are proud to present the AHC Home Repair grant for houses, condos and co-ops in Brooklyn.  Brooklyn residents can get up to a $20,000 grant (not a loan, no return payment required) to repair their homes.  Income limits apply.  Applications are selected in a lottery process.  Click here to view application.
