BPL Black American Library Card Project
Posted on: www.cb14brooklyn.com |
From January 4–31, artists are invited to submit designs for a library card & key fob celebrating Black American culture and history. The artwork and artist should have a connection to the Black American experience; preference will be given to artists with a connection to Brooklyn. Artists aged 13 and up are invited to submit their designs, those under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian to submit their design. Finalists may have their works displayed and the selected design will receive a $2,000 stipend for their work. This limited edition card will be released Summer 2021 at the African American Heritage Center at Macon Library and available at all library branches in Brooklyn that are issuing library cards. This card is the first in a series of future ‘Celebrating Heritage’ library cards. For more information, view the archived video of the virtual information session, contact BALC@bklynlibrary.org
