70th Pct Community Council Meeting Cancelled

The 70th Precinct Community Council Meeting scheduled for this Wednesday, October 28, 2015, has been cancelled due to the funeral for fallen Police Officer Randolph A. Holder.  The next Community Council Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 7:30 PM and will be held at the UCP center across from the Precinct House at 175 Lawrence Avenue.  For more information, please contact the 70th Precinct Community Affairs Unit at (718) 851-5557.

Public Safety Committee Meeting

The community is invited to attend a Public Safety Committee meeting at the Community Board 14 District Office (810 East 16th Street) on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 7 PM.  Deputy Inspector Richard Di Blasio, Commanding Officer, 70th Police Precinct, NYPD, is the featured speaker and will provide a report on the state of the precinct, an update on community concerns, and holiday crime prevention tips.

Community members are invited to join the thirteen NYPD precincts in Patrol Boro Brooklyn South (PBBS) for a day of family fun. This event is held annually to foster community, encourage communication between neighbors, and promote communication between residents and the police by joining police officers from Patrol Boro Brooklyn South for free food, games, activities and entertainment. The location of the event will be the Bartel-Pritchard Square entrance to Prospect Park at Prospect Park West and 15th Street. PBBS Precincts include the 60, 61, 62, 63, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 76 & 78 Precincts. Click Here to view event flyer.

National Night Out Against Crime

NYPD Seeking Public Assistance

The New York City Police Department and the 70th Precinct are seeking the public’s assistance with the whereabouts and identity of two individuals wanted in connection to a robbery that occurred on Sunday, July 27th, 2014 at approximately 9:40 PM in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn. NYPD Youth Summits 2014

The NYPD Community Affairs Bureau’s Juvenile Justice Division is hosting multiple Youth Summits in communities throughout NYC to inform the public about potential dangers and consequences of Social Media. Also addressed are topics on Youth Crews and trends in their respective neighborhoods. Teenagers, community leaders, representatives of community based youth organizations, teachers, administrators, clergy and concerned citizens are invited and encouraged to attend. Brooklyn Gun Buy Back Program

A Gun Buy Back Program to reduce violent crime will be held from 10 AM – 4 PM at two locations in Brooklyn on Saturday, December 15th. People who turn in an operable handgun will receive a $200 bank card and those who turn in operable rifles and shotguns will receive a $20 bank card for their contribution. No questions will be asked.

Drop-off sites include: Mt. Ollie Baptist Church at 1698 St. Marks Avenue (at Rockaway Avenue) in East New York and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at 105 Highland Place (individuals are asked to enter at 94 Hale Avenue) in Cypress Hills. (more…)

The 29th Annual National Night Out Against Crime is an event dedicated to strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. There will be fun, family-oriented activities and opportunities to meet police precinct commanders and the officers who serve and protect us, as well as local civic groups, neighbors, businesses, neighborhood organizations and public officials!

Safety Tips: Protect Your Home

The first months of summer have seen an increasing number of home break-ins in Community District 14. Some of these burglaries have occurred in the middle of the day while the homeowners were away from home only briefly. To protect yourself and your home, make sure that you follow common sense safety rules such as locking your doors and windows every time you go out.

Not sure if your home is secure? The NYPD provides safety checks for both homes and businesses. Officers will visit and give advice on how best to secure your residence. To schedule an appointment, contact the 70th Precinct at (718) 851-5511.

PBBS Showcase Festival Cancelled

The 70th Precinct’s annual Patrol Borough Brooklyn South (PBBS) Showcase Festival, which was scheduled for this Sunday, April 22 in Prospect Park, is Officially Cancelled due to predicted rain.  There is no rain date for this event.  Please call the 70th Precinct’s Community Affairs office at (718) 851-5557 if you have any questions.

NYPD Gun Buyback Program

The 70th Precinct is encouraging people from all over Brooklyn to take advantage of a gun buyback program that’s coming up in Brooklyn North.

On Saturday, January 28, the 77th Precinct is hosting the program at the Bedford Central Presbyterian Church, located at 1200 Dean Street at Nostrand. The cash-for-guns program will exchange $200 bank card for operable handguns and $20 bank card for operable rifles and shotguns.

70th Precinct’s Det. Dominick Scotto Named Chief Brennan Cop of the Year

CB14 Chairman Alvin M. Berk, Det. Dominick Scotto, and CB14 District Manager Doris OrtizOn Tuesday, October 26th, 2010, NYPD Patrol Borough Brooklyn South’s Assistant Chief Joseph Fox awarded the 70th Precinct’s Det. Dominick Scotto, Community Affairs, with the Chief Patrick D. Brennan Cop of the Year Award.  Community Board 14 congratulates Det. Scotto on this much-earned and well-deserved honor!

70th Precinct’s Annual Medal Day Awards Ceremony

On Sunday, September 19, 2010, Deputy Inspector Ralph Monteforte and the 70th Precinct hosted the annual Medal Day awards ceremony at the United Cerebral Palsy NYC complex on Lawrence Avenue.   Officers, family and community residents came out in droves to show their support of the NYPD and to congratulate those officers who served with distinction in the last year.
