The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) is proposing the partial closure of Albemarle Road at Coney Island Avenue as part of its Church Avenue Congested Corridors Project to reduce traffic congestion on Coney Island Avenue and Church Avenue. The partial closure and subsequent enhancements would include: adding a northbound protected left turn lane; installing bulbouts and pedestrian ramps; new traffic pattern with “Right Turns In Only” at Albemarle Road from Coney Island Avenue; installing a quick curb on Coney Island Avenue to prevent left turns at Albemarle Road and carwash; and restriping of crosswalks, stop bars and other pavement markings. Representatives from DOT will be attending to make a presentation on its proposal.
If you would like to testify at any of these public hearings, you should pre-register for speaking time by calling the Board office at 718-859-6357. You may, in addition, register to speak at the hearing on June 3rd.
