CB14 held its Fiscal Year 2013 district-level budget consultations on Wednesday, June 1st.  District Manager Doris Ortíz along with office staff and City agency representatives met to evaluate proposed City capital and expense budget priorities for the next round of the City’s budget planning process.  The process will continue into the fall with the Board’s annual District Needs Statement, community recommendations, borough-level consultations, and the submission of the Board’s final Capital and Expense Budget priorities to the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget.

Each year, in accordance with the New York City Charter, the City’s fifty-nine Community Boards are required to submit priorities and recommendations for the City’s Capital and Expense budgets for the following fiscal year. This year, the boards must submit their recommendations for Fiscal Year 2012 by October 29, 2010.

As in previous years, Community Board 14 is soliciting the participation of Flatbush and Midwood residents. This offers an opportunity for neighborhood groups and individuals to make their needs known to the Community Board. It further assures consideration of local suggestions and opinions during the development of budget requests and recommendations for the City resources and services. Please complete the simple budget recommendation form on the reverse side.

Your recommendations must be submitted to the Community Board 14 office at the above address no later than Friday, September 10, 2010. This early date is necessary to meet the City’s mandated deadlines, and to assure that the board’s recommendations have maximum impact on City agency budget requests.

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget is proposing an additional 4% reduction for Community Boards, bringing the total reduction to approximately $40,000, or 20% of this year’s current budget.

To that end, CB14 will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 7 PM in the CB14 District Office, 810 East 16th Street, between Avenue H and the Dead End, has been scheduled to provide information and an opportunity for public comment.
