Each year, in accordance with the New York City Charter, all 59 Community Boards are required to submit recommendations for NYC’s capital and expense budgets for the following fiscal year. Submit Your Budget Recommendations

Brooklyn Community Board 14 invites community residents to submit recommendations for the City’s Capital & Expense budgets for Fiscal Year 2016. If you have any suggestions for projects you would like to see funded in the district, please use this form to let us know! These recommendations should be for major construction projects, large equipment purchases, rehabilitation of city facilities such as streets, parks, public buildings, sewer lines, etc., or the addition of and/or major changes to program funding and services.  If you would like assistance with any smaller service delivery issues such as pothole repairs or tree pruning requests, please call the CB14 District Office, Monday-Friday, 9 AM-5 PM at 718-859-6357. Capital & Expense Budget Recommendations FY2015

Each year, in accordance with the New York City Charter, the City’s 59 Community Boards are required to submit recommendations for the City’s Capital and Expense budgets for the following fiscal year. Community Board 14 is asking neighborhood groups and individuals to make their priorities known by completing the FY2015 Community Budget Recommendation Form. Your recommendations for the distribution of City resources assure that local suggestions are taken into consideration during the development of the budget. Recommendation forms must be emailed, mailed or faxed to the Community Board 14 office no later than Friday, September 6, 2013. (more…)

Citywide Statement of Needs for FY 2013 & 2014

The Citywide Statement of Needs, FY 2013 and 2014 are now available for review by the residents of Community Board 14. The Statement of Needs describes City facilities that are proposed for closing or expansion in the next two (2) years. Community Board 14 will be submitting comments on these documents no later than April 30, 2012.

CB14, Agency Representatives Hold Successful District-Level Consultations

CB14 held its Fiscal Year 2013 district-level budget consultations on Wednesday, June 1st.  District Manager Doris Ortíz along with office staff and City agency representatives met to evaluate proposed City capital and expense budget priorities for the next round of the City’s budget planning process.  The process will continue into the fall with the Board’s annual District Needs Statement, community recommendations, borough-level consultations, and the submission of the Board’s final Capital and Expense Budget priorities to the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget.

Community Recommendations for the New York City Fiscal Year 2012 Capital and Expense Budgets

Dear Community Resident:

Each year, in accordance with the New York City Charter, the City’s fifty-nine Community Boards are required to submit priorities and recommendations for the City’s Capital and Expense budgets for the following fiscal year. This year, the boards must submit their recommendations for Fiscal Year 2012 by October 29, 2010.

As in previous years, Community Board 14 is soliciting the participation of Flatbush and Midwood residents. This offers an opportunity for neighborhood groups and individuals to make their needs known to the Community Board. It further assures consideration of local suggestions and opinions during the development of budget requests and recommendations for the City resources and services. Please complete the simple budget recommendation form on the reverse side.

Your recommendations must be submitted to the Community Board 14 office at the above address no later than Friday, September 10, 2010. This early date is necessary to meet the City’s mandated deadlines, and to assure that the board’s recommendations have maximum impact on City agency budget requests.

For your information, Community Board 14 will hold two (2) public hearings concerning budget recommendations tentatively scheduled as follows:

Great News! Community Board Budgets Restored!

We have just learned that the City Council has come through with a full restoration of the Community Board budgets.  Each board will receive an approximately $30,000 restoration in the budget that will be adopted.  More information will be available shortly.

Community Board 14 is deeply grateful to the City Council for listening to our concerns, particularly Council Members Eugene, Felder, Nelson and Stewart, as well as our Board members and the Flatbush and Midwood communities for their support during this budget battle!

Community Boards to Rally Against Budget Cuts

The five Borough Presidents, City Council Members, and other elected officials will be joining the members and staffs of the City’s 59 Community Boards to rally against the nearly $40,000 cut to each community board’s budget and in support of adequate funding of their operation. CB14 Addresses Mayor On Additional Budget Cuts

CB14 Chairman Alvin M. Berk and District Manager Doris Ortíz sent a letter to New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg urging restoration of all 59 Community Board budgets.

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget is proposing an additional 4% reduction for Community Boards, bringing the total reduction to approximately $40,000, or 20% of this year’s current budget.

Citywide Statement of Needs Public Hearing

In accordance with Section 204 of the New York City Charter, the Mayor has submitted the Citywide Statement of Needs for Fiscal Years 2010 and 2011 for review and comment.  The purpose of this statement is two-fold: to inform the public at the earliest possible stage of the City’s needs for facilities and the specific criteria for selecting their locations; and to provide information about the existing distribution of City properties.

To that end, CB14 will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 7 PM in the CB14 District Office, 810 East 16th Street, between Avenue H and the Dead End, has been scheduled to provide information and an opportunity for public comment.
