SPECIAL PERMIT: An application for a Special Permit has been filed with the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA), to permit the enlargement of two (2) existing semi-attached one-family dwellings by combining them into one dwelling with a new attic and additions to the front, rear and side of the building within the designated R2 district bounded by Avenue I, Nostrand Avenue, Kings Highway, Avenue O and Ocean Avenue in Community Board 14 in the Borough of Brooklyn.

SPECIAL PERMIT: An application has been filed with the Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA) to request a Special Permit to allow the enlargement of a single-family residence in an R2 zoning district. The proposed extensions to the existing one (1) family dwelling are contrary to rear yard, floor area and open space ratios requirements. Therefore, a Special Permit from the BSA is needed as per Section 73-622 of the Zoning Resolution. The initial application was recommended for denial by Community Board 14 at its monthly meeting on January 12, 2009.

Flatbush Rezoning Process Update
Thursday, May 14th, 2009The Flatbush rezoning proposal began formal public review on March 2, 2009 with the Department of City Planning’s Certification of the Uniform Land Use Review (ULURP) application (C 090336 ZMK and N 090335 ZRK).
Brooklyn Community Board 14 held its public hearing on Thursday, April 2, 2009, and the consensus of the members was to recommend that the rezoning plan be approved as submitted. On Monday, April 20, 2009, the Board adopted the recommendation and approved of the rezoning plan.
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz held a public hearing on the proposal on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Brooklyn Borough Hall. The next step in the process is for the City Planning Commission to conduct a public hearing on the plan on June 3, 2009.
