Citywide Statement of Needs Public Hearing
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009In accordance with Section 204 of the New York City Charter, the Mayor has submitted the Citywide Statement of Needs for Fiscal Years 2010 and 2011 for review and comment. The purpose of this statement is two-fold: to inform the public at the earliest possible stage of the City’s needs for facilities and the specific criteria for selecting their locations; and to provide information about the existing distribution of City properties.
To that end, CB14 will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 7 PM in the CB14 District Office, 810 East 16th Street, between Avenue H and the Dead End, has been scheduled to provide information and an opportunity for public comment.

Upcoming Weekend Traffic Restrictions on Newkirk Avenue
Thursday, February 19th, 2009Granite Construction Northeast, Inc., the contractor for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) that is upgrading Newkirk Plaza, just informed CB14 of weekend traffic restrictions on Newkirk Avenue:
- 12:01 AM Saturday, February 21 to 5:00 AM Monday, February 23rd — Traffic will be permitted on Newkirk Avenue between Marlborough Road and East 16th Street during the above-indicated times; however, vehicular traffic may be restricted at times due to construction.
- 12:01 AM Saturday, February 28 to 5:00 AM Monday, March 2nd – Newkirk Avenue between Marlborough Road and East 16th Street will be closed to traffic during the above-indicated times.
This closing has been approved by the New York City Department of Transportation.
MTA Service Diversions Affecting Newkirk Avenue B/Q Station
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has informed CB14 today that the following service diversions will be affecting the Newkirk Avenue B/Q station over the next two weekends:
12:01 a.m. Saturday, February 21 until 5:00 a.m. Monday, February 23: Southbound Q trains operate express from Prospect Park to Kings Highway but will bypass Newkirk Avenue. Northbound service normal.
12:01 a.m. Saturday, February 28 until 5:00 a.m. Monday, March 2: Northbound Q trains operate express from Kings Highway to Prospect Park but bypass Newkirk Avenue. Southbound service normal.

No Garbage, Recycling Collection or Street Cleaning on Lincoln’s Birthday, Thursday February 12th
Monday, February 9th, 2009The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) announced today that in observance of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, there will be no garbage or recycling collection, or street cleaning on Thursday, February 12, 2009. In addition, all Sanitation Department administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, February 12th, in observance of the holiday. (more…)
