Food Drive Donations Delivered to Local Food Pantries
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008Yesterday, Community Board 14 packaged and delivered all the food donations received during its Holiday Food Drive. Thanks again to all who donated food and supported this effort to make everyone’s holiday just a little bit brighter! Special thanks to Deputy Inspector Ralph Monteforte, Commanding Officer of the 70th Precinct, who provided assistance in the delivery of the donations to local food pantries.

POTENTIAL COMMUNITY RESIDENCE
Women’s League Community Residences, Inc. and the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities have submitted an application for a potential Community Residence to be located at 798 East 8th Street between Avenue H and Foster Avenue within Community District 14 in compliance with Section 41.34(e)(2) of the New York State Mental Hygiene Law. This established residence will be relocating into a five-bedroom, two-and-a-half-story, detached house for up to nine (9) geriatric males and females from the community who are experiencing moderate/mild impairment in their intellectual abilities. The program will provide supervisory and residential staff on duty 24 hours a day, who will plan for the care of each resident and develop plans to enhance their personal skills. The residents will attend day programs and recreational outing on weekends and evenings.

CB14 Organizes Successful Holiday Food Drive For Local Pantries

No Garbage, Recycling Collection or Street Cleaning on Christmas Day, December 25th

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) announced that in observance of Christmas Day, there will be no garbage or recycling collection, or street cleaning on Thursday, December 25, 2008. In addition, all Sanitation Department administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, December 25th, in observance of the holiday.
Residents who normally receive Thursday garbage collection should place their trash out at curbside Thursday after 4 P.M. for pickup. Those receiving Thursday recycling collection will not have their recycling picked up until the following Friday, January 2nd, 2009.

Here’s how you can help:
Bring 1 item of non-perishable food to our next meeting on Monday, December 8th, in P.S. 249 (Caton Ave. & Marlborough Rd.) at 7:30 PM or drop it off at the Board office (810 East 16th Street) during office hours (weekdays between 10 AM and 4 PM).
* All items will be donated to food pantries within Community District 14 *
